• Keep it charged all the time: It may not make sense, but using the battery regularly keeps it fully charged. Riding almost daily should be sufficient to keep the battery’s charge. If you go extended times between your rides, you should use a battery tender to maintain the charge. Make sure you choose the right tender, as using the wrong one can harm the battery.
• Choose the right battery: Not only do you need the right motorcycle battery, but if you have the budget for it, you may want to upgrade. There are extended life batteries that can last more than twice as long as standard ones if properly cared for.

Although it is helpful to know how you can extend the life of your motorcycle battery, it is also good to know how to tell if your battery is dead. The most obvious is that your motorcycle will not start at all. However, other signs that your charge is low are fading headlights, difficulties starting, broken battery terminals, a bulging battery, battery discoloration, acid leakage, and difficulty holding a charge. If you notice any of these signs, it is time to replace your battery.
