The Right Foods to Eat During Your Third Trimester.

As the expectant mother, it is your job to make sure that you are eating all the right kinds of foods when it comes to the health of your unborn child. The duration of your pregnancy is incredibly important, but the third trimester is really important because this is the point of your pregnancy when your baby does really begin to grow and gain weight. This is when all the different parts of their body begin to take shape and your baby’s eyes will start to open, its hair will start to grow and the nails on its fingers and toes will begin to form. It is a very exciting time as far as pregnancy goes and so eating all the right kinds of food and making sure that you are getting the right nutrition all help with your baby’s growth.

The usual rules apply with regard to your third-trimester eating habits and so you should be consuming lots of fruits, vegetables, and of course proteins. Your body needs lots of different vitamins, minerals, and nutrients to build up both your strength and the baby’s strength for the day that it’s finally time to come out into the real world. The following are just some of the different kinds of food that are right for your body and especially in your third trimester.

Fish & Dairy

A very important vitamin for your growing baby and especially for its bones is vitamin A and it also helps to improve their sight and skin as well. The third trimester is when your baby is able to recognize light and so it is important that you consume lots of fish and other dairy products. When doing your weekly shop, be sure to add fortified cereals to your shopping basket as well as important vegetables like spinach.

Citrus Fruits & Broccoli

We all know one understands how important vitamin C’s are in our adult lives and it is equally important in the third trimester because it helps our bodies to process and that is incredibly important for your baby’s oral health including its teeth and gums. You need to have a really strong immune system when carrying your baby so make sure that you eat lots of oranges, strawberries, and tomatoes and get some broccoli into your body.

Nuts & Poultry

Essential iron is incredibly important especially for your baby’s red blood cells because these are the very things that provide your baby with air to breathe. You will find it in popular foods like chicken as well as beans, lentils, and peas. You need to make sure that you eat lots of your citrus fruits because this essential vitamin C helps your body to absorb the iron from the above food.

It can be difficult trying to figure out what foods you should be eating and the ones to stay away from, but if you do your homework, you can pretty much eat a very varied diet that will provide you and your baby with all of the essential nutrients and vitamins that you could both possibly need.
